Players earn points by making predictions on the results of the European Football Championship Euro 2008.
You can make
- predictions for the individual games. Predictions can be made and modified until 1 minute before the scheduled game start.
- predictions for group results (1st and 2nd team of each group). Predictions can be made and modified until 1 minute before the scheduled start of the first game in the group.
- predictions for the proceeding teams in the knock-out stage. Predictions can be made and modified until 1 minute before the scheduled start of the game.
- predictions for the overall Euro winner, finalist and semi finalists. Predictions can be made and modified until 1 minute before the scheduled start of the first game in the group stage.
Scoring:
Games in group stage (predicted until 1 minute before the game starts):
- 1 point for a correct result (team 1 win / team 2 win / draw)
- 1 extra point for the correct goal difference
- 1 extra point for the exact goal score
-> Example: You predict 3:1, game ends 1:0, you get 1 point
-> Example: You predict 3:1, game ends 2:0, you get 2 points
-> Example: You predict 3:1, game ends 3:1, you get 3 points
-> Note: a maximum of 3 points is awarded for each game in the group stage
-> Note: a predicted draw is always 2 points at least
Group results (predicted until 1 minute before the first game of the group starts):
- 2 points for each proceeding team (1st place or 2nd place in the group)
- 2 extra points for each proceeding team in the correct position (1st or 2nd)
-> Example: You predict Germany 1st and Poland 2nd, result is Poland 1st and Croatia 2nd, you get 2 points
-> Example: You predict Germany 1st and Poland 2nd, result is Germany 1st and Poland 2nd, you get 8 points
-> Note: a maximum of 8 points is awarded for each group
Games in knock-out stage (predicted until 1 minute before the game starts):
- 1 point for a correct result (team 1 win / team 2 win / draw) after regular play time (90 minutes)
- 1 extra point for the correct goal difference after regular play time (90 minutes)
- 1 extra point for the exact goal score after regular play time (90 minutes)
- 2 extra points for the proceeding team in the quarter finals and semi finals (possibly after extra time and penalty shootout)
- 4 extra points for the winning team in the final (possibly after extra time and penalty shootout)
-> Example:
You predict Czech Republic - Italy 1:2 and Italy proceeding in the quarter final,
game ends 0:2 after 90 minutes, you get 3 points,
game ends 1:2 after 90 minutes, you get 5 points,
game ends 1:1 after 90 minutes, Italy proceeds, you get 2 points
-> Note: a maximum of 5 points is awarded for the games in the knock-out stage, 7 points in the final
Overall Result (winner, finalist and semi finalist, predicted until 1 minute before the first game of the group stage starts):
- 2 points for each semi finalist
- 2 extra points for each finalist
- 4 extra points for the winner
-> Example:
You predict France winner, Spain finalist, Netherlands and Russia semi finalist,
result is France winner, Russia finalist, Spain and Portugal semi finalist,
you get 12 points: 8 points for France as predicted winner, 2 points each for Spain and Russia as predicted semi finalists
-> Note: a maximum of 16 points is awarded for the winner, finalist and semi finalists
Tie break:
If two players have the same number of points, the following criteria are used for ranking:
- the number of exact goal scores predicted
- the number of correct results predicted
- points earned for the overall winner, finalist and semi finalist
- points earned for the group predictions
- points earned in the knock-out stage
- points earned in the group stage
Additional rules:
- Predictions of the individual players become visible to other players only after the deadline for the prediction. Trends (e.g. percentages of team 1 win / team 2 win / draw predictions) are visible also before the deadline.
- No points are awarded if no prediction is made in time. No exceptions are made if the internet connection of the web server is down.
- Only one account per person is allowed.
- Be polite if you make a post in the forum.

There could be a penalty shoot-out in todays match Turkey vs. Czech Republic for rank 2 in the group. This would not count for the match result. Only the result after 90 minutes counts.
